Soysilk is a high quality, silk-like fiber made from the by-product of tofu (soybean) manufacturing. It is a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to the use of silkworm cocoons.
Soysilk is naturally a soft golden color. It feels like silk and acts like silk, but it also has some excellent properties to consider. It is lightweight, breathable, and dries quickly. It dyes well and doesn't shrink. It doesn't wrinkle and has an excellent drape. It is stronger than wool, cotton, or silk.
Soysilk is blended with other fibers and is not generally used on its own. Since it is a protein based fiber, protein dyes should be used (ie: dyes for wool, mohair).
Soysilk is a vegan alternative to silk.
Common uses: perfect to blend with our BFL and mohair to make batts and rolags, or use in tapestry, also excellent for dyeing and crafting.
